Miss Moss is now immortalised in a life-sized 18-carat gold sculpture titled Siren. This 50kg gold statue of the supermodel, worth £1.5 million, was unveiled in october 2008 in the British Museum as part of the Statuephilia exhibition. The sculpture, which is hollow, weighs about as much as the supermodel herself according to the artist, and is believed to be the largest gold statue made in the world since Ancient Egyptian times.
This wasn't the first time the artist Marc Quinn worked with Miss Kate Moss, back in 2007, he presented a 3 meter high bronze sculpture in a contorted yoga pose.
Marc Quinn... "There must be something about her that has clicked with the collective unconscious to make her so ubiquitous, so spirit-of-the-age." Vogue
Mark Quinn ...."I thought the next thing to do would be to make a sculpture of the person who's the ideal beauty of the moment. But even Kate Moss doesn't live up to the image"
