MIss Unconventional Genius

Three days ago one of the most influential, creative, innovative designer of this decade & one of my favorite designer Alexander McQueen committed suicide and till this day I haven't had the words to say goodbye to this great creative mind and unconventional genius .... but the show most go on.

Alexander McQueen born Lee Alexander McQueen on March 16, 1969 in Lewisham, London to a Scottish taxi driver and a teacher. McQueen was the youngest of six children, he began doing dresses for his three sister and discovered his love for creating and fashion.

After working with prestigious tailors & theatricals costumiers like Angels and Bermal in London, he enrolled in one of the most prestigious fashion school, Central Martins College of Art and Design in London. In his graduation he presented a collection influenced by Isabella Blow, where the public first saw the sympathy between the two of them. Isabella was responsible for his name change cutting the Lee and staying with Alexander his second name, and then worked hand in hand with McQueen, making her his BFF, and fully creative inspiration in a lot of his collections. Blow was one of the most respected & influential fashion stylist in London, and the muse for hat designer Phillip Treacy.

McQueen launched his line in 1992 and by 1996 he joined the Givenchy power house succeeding John Galliano now Creative Director of Christian Dior. Alexander was the youngest designer to win British Designer of the Year four times between 1996 and 2003. He was also awarded and named International Designer of the year at the Council of Fashion Designers Awards.

In december 2000 Gucci Group obtain the 51% of his line and making McQueen Creative Director, that for all designers this was a partnership made in fashion heaven. He also made Collaboration for a collection for the sneaker power house Puma, where he got great reviews from & was quickly accepted.

His accessories as well as his clothes are pieces of art, and showed that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder....

Alexander made it clear that he didn't design for the famous, but that didn't stop you from seeing his creations on the red carpet. McQueen dressed fashionistas all over the globe and from all sort of parties like Madonna, Bjork, Sarah Jessica Parker, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Drew Barrymore, KAte Moss, Naomi Campbell, Janet Jackson(actually he was responsible for the wardrobe malfunction in the superball), Lady Gaga, and much much more.

His vision out of the world, his pasion totally human, his legacy will never be forgotten....
see you in the next life.....god save the queen.....
